How to become a patron

Your library card is your personal property. It is connected to your national identity number and is valid at any public library in Norway. If you do not have a national identity number, your card will only be valid in Kristiansand kommune (municipality). You can also get a library card if you represent an institution, a school or any other non-personal unit: this card will also only be valid in Kristiansand kommune.
If you have lost your card, please download our app Bibliofil and log in.

Code of conduct

We want anyone visiting Kristiansand public library to feel at home, and for the library to be a safe space. To achieve this, we ask that you:
- Conduct yourself in accordance with common courtesy and Norwegian law.
- Abstain from the possession or use of alcohol, drugs or other mind altering substances while at the library, and that you refrain from visiting us if you are intoxicated or under the influence of such substances. The only exceptions to this rule are events where a liquor license has been obtained, permitting the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages during the event.
- Do not bring animals into the library. The only exception is in the case of service dogs, which are permitted.
Violations of these rules can lead to an expulsion from the library. Police and/or security personnel may be called upon to assist.
Serious or repeated violations of these rules can lead to a ban from the library and/or the invalidation of your library card for an extended period of time. Final decision in such cases resides with the library manager, and will be delivered to you in written form.
Violations of Norwegian law will be reported to the police.
These rules have been established according to the Norwegian Library Law, § 4, subparagraph 3.
